Lehigh faces Army West Point, Colgate on the road in homestretch of season

BETHLEHEM, Pa. — After nearly a week off between matches, the Lehigh volleyball team heads back on the road to play two against Army West Point on Friday night at 7 p.m. and at Colgate Saturday at 3 p.m. There are just four matches left in the season before the Patriot League Tournament begins as the Mountain Hawks are fighting for chance to get into the tournament for the first time since the 2017 season.
Lehigh is coming off back-to-back home losses to Navy (3-1) on Friday night and American (3-0) on Senior Day Saturday. Those losses snapped a four-match win streak dating back to Oct. 15 at Loyola and knots its record at 13-13 overall and 6-6 in the Patriot League.
Senior middle blocker Lauren Bright continues her reign as the Patriot League's top hitter, with an attack percentage of .362 with 133 kills and just 31 errors in 282 attempts. Junior outside hitter Sabrina Lancaster leads the team in kills with 277 this season, averaging 3.42 per set, while junior Hannah Wright is second on the team in kills with 253 and in kills/set at 2.94. Wright also leads the team in service aces with 19 so far.
Both of Lehigh's setters have been fantastic this season with Sarah Carman getting majority of the reps, leading the team with 626 assists in her sophomore campaign, while sophomore Alina Lam has tallied 301 assists in just 38 sets played.
Aside from Bright, fellow senior middle-blocker Emily Poole has also been one of the Mountain Hawks' most consistent hitters with a mark of .293 and 103 total blocks, which is tops on the team and in the Patriot League. She ranks second in the league in blocks per set at 1.14. Her 22 solo blocks are tied for the league-lead.
Bright is second on the team with 95 total blocks on the defensive side of the ball, while Wright has added 52. Lancaster leads the team in digs with 191, while senior libero Jess Donaldson has accumulated 190 digs this season, averaging 2.53 per set, which leads her teammates.
The Mountain Hawks are hitting .218 as a team this season, which ranks fourth in the Patriot League, while topping the league in total blocks with 219.5, averaging 2.41 blocks per set.
Army West Point comes into the weekend with a 16-9 overall record, a 7-5 mark in the Patriot League. The Black Knights are coming off a 3-1 road victory at Holy Cross last Saturday, after falling in three straight matches at Colgate, at Navy and at American.
Ana Oglivie leads the team in hitting, with a team-high mark of .286. She also leads the team in digs with 395, averaging 4.65 digs per set. Sydney Morriss leads the way with 227 kills, averaging 2.77 per set, while chipping in 206 digs, 2.51/set. Two other players on the roster have tallied 200 or more kills this season with Emmy Barnhorst (209) and Courtney Horace (208) both being consistent threats to put the ball down on the court.
Allie Strong leads the way with 28 service aces this season to go along with her 195 kills. She also has registered 207 digs and 25 total blocks so far this season.
Army West Point is hitting .208 as a team this season, averaging 13.0 kills per set and has 213.0 total blocks.
The Black Knights lead the all-time series, 41-16 with Army West Point getting the best of Lehigh earlier this year on Oct. 12, 3-0 at Grace Hall. The Black Knights have won six of the last seven matches dating back to the Patriot League Semifinals on Nov. 21, 2015.
Colgate is the top dog in the Patriot League so far this season with an 18-6 overall record and a 11-1 mark in league play. The team's only defeat came at American on Oct. 26 in a straight-set loss. The Raiders are coming off of two consecutive victories over Holy Cross last Sunday in straight sets, while knocking off Army West Point Nov. 1, 3-0.
As always, Julia Kurowski has been excellent this season, further establishing herself as one of, if not the best setter in the Patriot League. She leads the team with an attack percentage of .315 to go along with her 960 assists. She averages 10.21 assists per set while contributing 15 service aces as well. Alli Lowe leads the way with 340 kills, while Alex Stein has added 336. Defensively, Bridget Kolsky has a team-high 378 digs in 94 sets played, averaging 4.02 digs per set. Stein has 248 digs, while Kurowski has 238 to her credit. Hailey Horn-Bostel remains one of the league's best middle-blockers with 90 total blocks, averaging 1.07 per set, along with 144 kills and an attack percentage of .305.
The Raiders are hitting .231 as a team this season, which ranks second in the Patriot League, averaging 13.1 kills per set.
Colgate leads the all-time series vs. Lehigh, 42-19 with the Raiders taking the last four matchups since Oct. 21, 2017. The Mountain Hawks fell to Colgate back on Oct. 11 at Grace Hall, 3-0.
