BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Lehigh field hockey team is set to wrap up its September schedule this weekend when it travels to Washington, D.C. to face American on Saturday (11 a.m.) and Georgetown on Sunday (2 p.m.). Most recently, the Mountain Hawks fell at LIU Brooklyn in a game highlighted by first-year Sam Nason's first two career goals.

Nason became the second Lehigh rookie with multiple goals this season, joining Leah Mullery who scored twice at Villanova. The last time two Mountain Hawk rookies posted a multi-goal game was in 2004. Lehigh's first-years have impressed this season, scoring six of the team's 11 goals so far. Mullery owns three, Nason has two and Olivia Perrone has one, with Mullery and Perrone each winning Patriot League Rookie of the Week.

Sophomore Lenke Havas continues her strong play as well, posting four points last week while having a hand in all three Lehigh goals. Havas scored in the second half in a 5-1 defeat to Bucknell before assisting on both of Sunday's goals, both off penalty corners.

Perennial Patriot League power American owns a 4-4 record, including 1-1 in league play. All four of its losses have come against nationally-ranked opponents. The Eagles opened league play with a 2-1 overtime loss at No. 21 Boston University before beating Holy Cross, 6-1. Rafaela Rubas leads the team in points (11) and assists (5) while Carlotta Borcherding leads the way with four goals. Noor Coenen has American's only defensive save, while adding eight points (three goals, two assists). Maura Jacobs has played every minute in goal, recording a 1.92 goals against average and 0.750 save percentage.

American is 20-0 all-time against Lehigh. The Mountain Hawks recently had a close call, dropping a 1-0 final in overtime in 2015.

Georgetown is 6-3 on the season, 0-2 in the Big East, but 3-0 at home. The Hoyas also host Old Dominion on Friday. After a 5-0 start, Georgetown has lost three of its last four games (at Villanova, Quinnipiac and Brown). Cami Osborne leads the Hoyas with 13 points (six goals, one assist) while Lindsay Getz comes in with 10 points (four goals, two assists). Ciara Weets has started all nine games, recording a 1.73 GAA and 0.700 save percentage.

Lehigh is 10-5 all-time vs. Georgetown, winning 3-2 last season for its fourth win in the last six matchups overall.

Following this weekend, the Mountain Hawks return home for four in a row, beginning on Saturday, Oct. 6 against Holy Cross.
