Lehigh opens spring season with fourth place finish at Benbow Invitational

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Junior Reagan Jahn shot one over par 73 Tuesday to move into the top 10 individually as Lehigh shaved off 14 strokes off its round one total to finish fourth in the 10-team Benbow Invitational at Blue Sky Golf Club. The Mountain Hawks shot 313 in Tuesday's final round to finish the 26-hole event at 640 (327-313).
 
Jahn's one over par 73 moved her into a tie for sixth place at 153 (80-73). Lehigh's top player after day one was sophomore Minuette Laessig, who finished with a second straight 79 to tie for 14th place at 158.
 
Senior Megan Moylan matched Jahn with a seven stroke improvement from round one to round two, shooting 77 on Tuesday to tie for 22nd place at 161 (84-77).
 
Both of Lehigh's freshmen entrants matched their round one scores on Tuesday as Alexis Browne finished at 168 (84-84) to tie for 35th place and Angela Ding finished at 182 (91-91) to tie for 51st.
 
Sophomore Rebecca Markunas is competing as an individual and also matched her round one score, finishing in 43rd place at 172 (86-86).
 
St. John's used a final round 300 to rally past host Butler for the team title. The Red Storm finished the tournament at 606 (306-300), besting the Bulldogs by six strokes. Quinnipiac finished third at 616.
 
Three players: Butler's Kelsey McDougall and Lauren Tibbets and Linda Wang of St. John's all tied for medalist honors at three over par 147.
 
The Mountain Hawks will continue their spring schedule at the William & Mary Intercollegiate, March 19-20 in Williamsburg, Va.
