Lauren Bright named to Academic All-Patriot League Team

BETHLEHEM, Pa. — The awards keep coming in for the Lehigh volleyball team, as the Patriot League officially unveiled their Academic All-League selections on Thursday.
Junior middle blocker Lauren Bright was named a member of the Academic All-Patriot League team for her excellent performance in the classroom and on the court.
The award is Bright's first academic award of her career after being named to the All-League second team in 2017. In order to be eligible for the All-Academic Team, the student athlete must have a cumulative GPA of 3.20 or higher. As a computer science major, Lauren's 3.72 GPA and many other academic accomplishments made her a solid choice for the elite award, given to just seven student athletes within the Patriot League.
She had herself quite the 2018 season on the court for the Mountain Hawks, with 118 blocks, third in the Patriot League and second on the team. Bright tallied 173 kills on 427 attempts for a .297 hitting percentage. She finished her junior season with 68 digs and 20 service aces.
"Lauren is very disciplined in both her time management skills and her drive to be successful both on the court and in the classroom," said head coach Alexa Keckler. "She does a really good job of keeping a level head so even on the court you can see that.
"She doesn't wear her emotions on her sleeve, she just continues to grind through looking for ways to be better and it's clear that she does the same thing academically. We're really proud of her."
