BETHLEHEM, Pa. – After scoring double-figure points in each of his first two career games, including a double-double at an ACC opponent, Lehigh men's basketball freshman Nic Lynch has been named Patriot League Rookie of the Week, as announced on Monday. Lynch averaged 10.0 points and 6.5 rebounds in just 17.5 minutes over his first two career games, helping the Mountain Hawks to a win at Monmouth and giving them a chance into the second half at Miami.
Â
On Wednesday at Monmouth, Lynch tallied 10 points and three rebounds in just nine minutes due to foul trouble. He shot 5-of-7 from the floor. Eight of those points came in the first 4:22 of the second half to help Lehigh turn a six-point halftime advantage into a 13-point lead at the under-16 media timeout. At Miami Friday, Lynch had 10 points and 10 boards for his first-career double-double. Ironically, it marked the second straight season that a Lehigh freshman center picked up his first-career double-double against an ACC foe. Last year, James Karnik had 14 points and 10 boards at Pitt.
Junior Pat Andree was also recognized on Monday, named honorable mention on the Patriot League weekly honor roll after averaging 20.5 points and 7.5 rebounds. Included was a career-high 31 points in a homecoming game at Monmouth.Â
Â
Lynch and the Mountain Hawks return home this week for its first two games in Stabler Arena, beginning on Tuesday vs. Marist (7 p.m.). Tuesday is Educator Appreciation Night as educators can use the promo code 'teach' to get $3 tickets to the game. For tickets, head to LehighTickets.com.
