
Six Mountain Hawks earn All-ECAC honors

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Six members of the Lehigh football team have been recognized as All-ECAC performers for FCS Football, the ECAC announced on Thursday. Senior wide receiver Troy Pelletier, senior offensive linemen Tim O'Hara and Brandon Short along with junior quarterback Brad Mayes and junior running back Dom Bragalone were all first team selections. Senior offensive linemen Zach Duffy was named second team ECAC.

In all, six of Lehigh's seven first team All-Patriot League selections were recognized as All-ECAC, with players needing to be first team all-conference to be eligible for ECAC awards.

Pelletier and Duffy both garnered All-ECAC recognition for the second straight season.

Bragalone netted his third straight first team all-league honor last month and was named Patriot League Offensive Player of the Year after playing a major role in Lehigh's second half surge to a league title. The first Lehigh player to post three 1,000-yard rushing seasons, Bragalone finished his junior campaign with 247 carries for 1,388 yards and 18 touchdowns. He leads the FCS in total rushing yards, rushing touchdowns and total touchdowns (22).

Pelletier set a number of Lehigh and Patriot League career records in his senior season and also set a school single season mark with 105 receptions. Pelletier finished with a career-high 1,292 receiving yards and caught 10 touchdowns. The four-time All-Patriot League selection now holds Lehigh and Patriot League career records for receptions (328) and receiving yards (4,216) and also set the league's career record for receiving touchdowns with 37.

Both Bragalone and Pelletier were finalists for the Walter Payton Award, given to the outstanding offensive player in the FCS. Bragalone finished seventh in the final balloting, while Pelletier tied for 22nd.

In his first year as a starting quarterback, Mayes directed the Patriot League's top offense and a unit that ranks in the top 10 nationally in total yards, passing and scoring. Mayes completed 64 percent of his passes for 3,886 yards and 31 touchdowns, with just 12 interceptions. He fell one touchdown pass short of Lehigh's single season record. Mayes was named Most Valuable Player of the Lehigh-Lafayette game, in which the Mountain Hawks clinched the Patriot League title.

The three senior offensive linemen helped pave the way for an offense that ranks sixth in the FCS, averaging nearly 475 yards per game. O'Hara, Short and Duffy helped Lehigh average 148.8 yards per game on the ground and 325.9 yards per game though the air, while the Mountain Hawks averaged just under 36 points per game.
