FCS ADA Release
BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh junior running back Dominick Bragalone picked up his second postseason All-America honor of the week on Thursday as he was named to the Division I Football Championship Subdivision Athletics Directors Association All-America team. The FCS ADA recognizes the top FCS student-athlete at 11 different positions, with Bragalone selected as the top running back.
Â
The fifth-annual award was given to student-athletes from 11 different institutions, representing six conferences. The 11-player team is voted on by a national panel of media members and sports information directors.
Â
Bragalone leads the FCS in total rushing yards, rushing touchdowns, scoring and total touchdowns. He became the first Lehigh player to record three 1,000-yard rushing seasons after gaining 1,388 on 247 yards while scoring 18 touchdowns on the ground and adding four more on receptions. Bragalone's 1,388 rushing yards are the second-highest total in school history and he finished his junior season 129 yards short of Lehigh's career rushing record of 3,696 held by Rabih Abdullah '97.
Â
The South Williamsport, Pa. native was named Patriot League Offensive Player of the Year and was a first team All-Patriot League selection as well as a first team All-ECAC honoree. Bragalone was a finalist for the Walter Payton Award, given to the outstanding offensive player in the FCS. He finished seventh in the final voting.
Â
On Tuesday, Bragalone was recognized as a first team FCS All-American by the Associated Press, becoming the first Lehigh player since 2011 to be named first team All-America by the AP.
Â
Bragalone's rushing prowess helped Lehigh to a 5-1 Patriot League record and its second straight (and 12th overall) Patriot League football championship.
Â
A national Offensive Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year will be announced at a later date and recognized at the National Championship Game in Frisco, Texas, on January 6, during an on-field presentation.
