BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Junior running back Dominick Bragalone posted his fifth consecutive 100-yard rushing game Saturday at Bucknell. On Monday, Bragalone was named Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week for the first time this season.
Playing in front of family and friends from his hometown of South Williamsport, Pa., Bragalone rushed for 136 yards and three touchdowns on 21 carries in Lehigh's 42-21 win over Bucknell. He scored on runs of 44 and seven yards as Lehigh built a 21-7 first quarter lead and then scored on a 29 yard scamper in the second quarter which put the Mountain Hawks up 35-14 at halftime. The three rushing touchdowns tied a career-best last accomplished last season against Fordham.
Bragalone finished the Bucknell game with 999 rushing yards for the season and needs one more yard to become the first Lehigh player to record three 1,000 yard rushing seasons. He also needs just 11 more yards to move past Rod Gardner '77 for second place on Lehigh's career rushing list. Bragalone is averaging 5.8 yards per carry this season and leads the FCS in both rushing touchdowns (12) and total touchdowns (15).
The player of the week honor comes one week after Bragalone set a career-high with 218 yards rushing at Fordham. He has rushed for more than 100 yards in five straight games and is averaging 165.5 yards rushing in Lehigh's four Patriot League games.
Also on Monday, junior kicker/punter Ed Mish garnered honorable mention recognition after connecting on all six of his extra points at Bucknell, while averaging 44.5 yards on four punts. Mish also assumed kickoff duties for the first time since week two at Monmouth.
The Mountain Hawks improved to 3-6 overall and 3-1 in Patriot League play with the win in Lewisburg, and now return home for their final two regular season games, beginning Saturday against Holy Cross. Game time is set for 12:30 p.m. as part of Family Weekend and Military Appreciation Day at Goodman Stadium. Tickets are still available and can be purchased at LehighTickets.com or by calling 610-7LU-GAME. The Lehigh-Holy Cross game is presented by PSECU.
