
Mountain Hawks return from layoff at Binghamton's Matthews Auto Collegiate Invitational

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Following a three-week hiatus, the Lehigh men's golf team returns to the links this weekend for the Matthews Auto Collegiate Invitational hosted by Binghamton University at the Links at Hiawatha Landing in Apalachin, N.Y. The 36 hole tournament begins with 18 holes on Sunday and will conclude with 18 holes Monday in what will be the third of five fall events for the Mountain Hawks.
Lehigh has been off since finishing 10th out of 15 teams at the Bucknell Invitational Sept. 10-11. The Mountain Hawks shot 600 in Lewisburg with sophomore Johnny Hsu leading the way by tying for 27th place. Lehigh also owns a seventh place finish at Colgate's Alex Lagowitz Memorial Invitational, with freshmen Ryan Kelly and Owen Quinn leading the way.
In addition to Lehigh and host Binghamton, the 16 team field features Bucknell, Canisius, Delaware, Drexel, La Salle, Lafayette, LIU-Brooklyn, Monmouth, Niagara, Ottawa, Rider, Siena, St. Bonaventure and Towson. The Blue Hens are the defending team champions and also feature returning medalist Jack Gianniny.
Action at the Matthews Auto Collegiate Invitational begins Sunday at 9 a.m. with players going off the 1st and 10th tees, while Monday's final round begins at 8:30 a.m.
After the Matthews Auto Collegiate Invitational, Lehigh will ready for its annual Presidents' Cup matches with rival Lafayette Oct. 18 at Hamilton Farm Golf Club in New Jersey. The Mountain Hawks will also host the Lehigh Invitational Oct. 21-22 at Saucon Valley Country Club.
