APALACHIN, N.Y. – Freshman Owen Quinn shot a final round six under par 66 to earn medalist honors as the Lehigh men's golf team wrapped up play at the Matthews Auto Collegiate Invitational Monday at The Links at Hiawatha Landing. Quinn finished the tournament at nine under par 135 (69-66) to defeat Lafayette's Will Halamandaris by one stroke.

Quinn becomes the first Mountain Hawk to earn individual medalist honors in a tournament since current junior Billy Johns won Villanova's Wildcat Invitational in 2015.

A solid final team round of four under par 284 moved the Mountain Hawks into eighth place in the 16 team field at 574 (290-284).

Johns joined Quinn in the top 10, tying for ninth place at two under par 142 (71-70).

Also competing as part of Lehigh's scoring team were sophomore Lee Hammerschmidt, who tied for 38th at 147 (71-76), freshman Joe Ender, who rebounded from an opening-round 79 with an even par 72 on Monday to tie for 59th place at 151, and freshman Ryan Kelly, who improved six strokes on his Sunday round to tie for 83rd place at 158 (82-76).

Sophomore Max Redetzke competed as an individual and finished in 86th place at 160 (78-82).

St. Bonaventure and Drexel tied for the team title at 565 with the Bonnies winning the tiebreaker (fifth score, second round). Delaware finished third, one stroke behind.

The Mountain Hawks will next face Lafayette in their annual Presidents' Cup match play event, Oct. 18 at Hamilton Farms Golf Club in New Jersey.
