
Mountain Hawks open fall season with sixth place finish at Navy

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Senior Elizabeth McGarrigle posted a top 10 individual finish to help the Lehigh women's golf team to a sixth place finish in their first fall event, the 16-team Navy Fall Invitational, which wrapped up Sunday at the Naval Academy Golf Club. The Mountain Hawks shot 325 on the tournament's final day to finish at 637 (312-325), 22 strokes behind team champion Harvard.

The Crimson (304-311-615) defeated Towson by six strokes, while Penn finished third at 623.

McGarrigle followed an impressive opening round 73 with an 80 on Sunday to finish alone in seventh place at 153. Junior Megan Moylan was in contention after day one but shot 82 on Sunday to finish at 156 (74-82) and tie for 14th place.

Lehigh's low round on Sunday was turned in by sophomore Reagan Jahn, who shot 79 and tied for 33rd place at 161 (82-79). Sophomore Aileen Jeong finished at 167 (83-84) and tied for 61st place.

After failing to post a score on Saturday, freshman Rebecca Markunas shot 86 in her first official competitive round on Sunday.

Sacred Heart's Ellen Nighbor was the individual medalist, posting a two-stroke victory at four over par 148 (71-77). Pascalle Tego of Wagner finished second.

The Mountain Hawks will continue their fall campaign at the Tignanelli Towson Invitational Sept. 18-19 in Phoenix, Md.
