Mountain Hawks garner AVCA Academic Award

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Lehigh volleyball team was one of 131 Division I programs to receive the 2015-16 American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award, the organization announced Monday.
The award honors collegiate volleyball teams that displayed excellence in the classroom during the school year by maintaining at least a 3.30 cumulative team GPA on a 4.0 scale. The Mountain Hawks recorded a team GPA of 3.44 during the 2015-16 school year.
Thirteen Mountain Hawks were named to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll in January after recording GPAs of 3.2 or better during the fall semester. Recently graduated Leah Turner earned Academic All-League recognition at the conclusion of the 2015 season.
This marks the third-straight year that Lehigh has earned the AVCA Team Academic Award.
The Mountain Hawks report to preseason camp in early August and open the 2016 campaign at the Central Connecticut State Invitational on August 26. Lehigh heads into the 2016 season looking to build upon five-straight trips to the Patriot League Tournament.
