BETHLEHEM, Pa. – For the second time in less than a week, Lehigh junior wide receiver Troy Pelletier picked up a third team All-America honor, this one coming Tuesday from STATS. The Patriot League's leading receiver, Pelletier was one of eight receivers recognized on the STATS FCS All-America teams.
Â
Pelletier led the Mountain Hawks and the Patriot League with 96 catches for 1,278 yards in 2016. He added 12 touchdown receptions, and added 106.5 receiving yards per game. Nationally, Pelletier ranks sixth in receiving yards per game and eighth in overall receiving yards. He led the FCS in total receiving yards for several weeks mid-season.
Â
The Deerfield, N.H. native posted three games with double-digit receptions and seven 100-yard receiving games. Pelletier's top game this season was a 13-catch, 213-yard, three-touchdown effort in the Mountain Hawks' 63-35 win at Yale on Oct. 1. He had a pair of touchdown catches in two Patriot League wins at Holy Cross and Lafayette. Pelletier was one of Lehigh's top performers in its first round FCS playoff game at New Hampshire, with eight receptions for 138 yards and a touchdown in his home state.
Â
Pelletier's 96 catches tied for second on Lehigh's single-season list, while the 1,278 receiving yards ranked sixth. Through three seasons, Pelletier ranks third in school history with 223 receptions and sits in fourth place with 2,924 receiving yards. Pelletier's 26 receiving touchdowns also rank third in school annals.
Â
Last week Pelletier was named a third team All-American by the Associated Press, the first All-America honors for a Lehigh football player since Lee Kurfis in 2013. Pelletier was a first team All-Patriot League selection, an ECAC All-Star and was a finalist for the Walter Payton Award, finishing 21st in the balloting for the outstanding offensive player in the FCS. Kurfis was also Lehigh's most recent STATS (formerly the Sports Network) All-American prior to Pelletier's selection.
Â
Pelletier helped lead Lehigh to a 9-3 overall record and the program's 11th Patriot League championship in 2016.
