Associated Press Release

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The first of the major FCS All-America teams was announced Thursday with Lehigh junior wide receiver Troy Pelletier earning Lehigh's first football All-America honor in three years, as he was named a third team All-American by the associated press. Pelletier was the Patriot League's top receiver in 2016 and a key contributor to the Mountain Hawks' Patriot League championship campaign.

In addition to this third team All-America honor from the AP, Pelletier was a first team All-Patriot League selection and an ECAC All-Star. He was also a finalist for the Walter Payton Award, given to the outstanding offensive player in the FCS. Pelletier finished 21st in the balloting for that award.

Pelletier's 96 receptions in 2016 marked the second-highest single season total in school history, while his 1,278 receiving yards put him sixth in school annals. He added 12 touchdown receptions and added 106.5 receiving yards per game. Pelletier led the Patriot League in both receptions and receiving yards.

The Deerfield, N.H. native posted three games with double-digit receptions and seven 100-yard receiving games. Pelletier's top game this season was a 13-catch, 213-yard, three-touchdown effort in the Mountain Hawks' 63-35 win at Yale on Oct. 1. He had a pair of touchdown catches in two Patriot League wins at Holy Cross and Lafayette. Pelletier was one of Lehigh's top performers in its first round FCS playoff game at New Hampshire, with eight receptions for 138 yards and a touchdown in his home state.

Through three seasons, Pelletier ranks third in school history with 223 receptions and sits in fourth place with 2,924 receiving yards. Pelletier's 26 receiving touchdowns also rank third in school annals.

Pelletier is the first All-American for Lehigh football since Lee Kurfis was recognized in 2013. Kurfis garnered second team accolades from the Associated Press and first team honors from the Sports Network.

Pelletier helped the Mountain Hawks to a 9-3 campaign in 2016, one that saw Lehigh win its 11th Patriot League football championship.
