
Mountain Hawks host Holy Cross Saturday to open Patriot League play

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Lehigh men's soccer team kicks off Patriot League play Saturday at 1 p.m. when the Mountain Hawks welcome Holy Cross to the Ulrich Sports Complex. Free video of the match will be available on the Patriot League Network.
The Mountain Hawks enter league play with a 4-2-1 overall record and are coming off a double-overtime scoreless draw at Saint Francis (Pa.) and 3-2 double-overtime victory at Robert Morris last weekend. Freshman Mark Forrest earned Patriot League Rookie of the Week recognition after scoring his first collegiate goal and assisting the game-winner at Robert Morris. The Mountain Hawks lead the league in shutouts as Lehigh has blanked its opponents in four of its seven games. Lehigh's 5.29 saves per game also leads the league.
Sophomore keeper Joe Bogan's .844 save percentage sits atop of the Patriot League leaderboard, as does his 5.40 saves per game mark. Senior Jamie Luchini has paced the Mountain Hawk offense with nine points behind three goals and three assists. Forrest and sophomore Doyle Tuvesson follow with five points apiece.
Holy Cross carries a 2-3-2 overall record into Saturday's league opener. The Crusaders' two wins came in the form of 5-0 and 3-1 decisions over Sacred Heart and Quinnipiac, respectively. Holy Cross is coming off a 1-0 loss to Monmouth last Saturday in its most recent action. The Crusaders have outscored their opponents 9-5 so far this season.
Joey DeVivo and Yuji Callahan have each tallied seven points to lead the Holy Cross offense, while DeVivo's three goals also stands as a team best. Keeper Kevin Wright has tallied an .800 save percentage to go along with a 0.67 goals against average.
The Mountain Hawks have won five of the last six meetings with Holy Cross including a 2-1 decision in Worcester, Mass. last season. Tuvesson and current senior Ryan Bertrando scored two goals within the first 17 minutes to help propel the Mountain Hawks to the victory. Lehigh holds a 12-9-6 all-time advantage over the Crusaders.
Following Saturday's 1 p.m. game, Lehigh will remain home to host non-league opponent Fordham Tuesday at 7 p.m. before continuing league play against Colgate Saturday Oct. 3 at 7 p.m. at the Ulrich Sports Complex. Free video of both matches will be available on the Patriot League Network.
