BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Lehigh field hockey team looks to bounce back from a tough loss at Monmouth when the Mountain Hawks hit the road this weekend for games at Columbia Friday (5 p.m.) and Towson Sunday (12 p.m.). Lehigh fell behind Monmouth last Friday 2-0 at the half and 6-1 at one point in the second half, but the Mountain Hawks didn't back down. They ended the game on a strong note, scoring two goals in the final 5:53 of action.

Lehigh's goals were scored by senior Lindsey Schott, junior Gabby Tofig and freshman Lauren Dice. Dice's goal marked the first of her career while Schott and Tofig are tied for the team lead in goals (2) and points (4) this season.

The Mountain Hawks look to pull back to .500 on Friday, entering the weekend 1-2 overall. Lehigh's win came in impressive fashion over Davidson of the Atlantic 10. This weekend marks the final tune-up before Patriot League play begins next Saturday, Sept. 19 at home vs. American.

Columbia is 0-2 on the season, falling to Rider (5-3) and UConn (9-1). The Lions finished 12-5 a season ago, 5-2 in the Ivy League and 8-1 at home. Meredith Kalberer leads the team with four points (one goal, two assists) as she's had a hand in three of the team's four goals thus far. Christina Freibott, Katie Ruesterholz and Whitney Hartstone have scored the other goals. Kimberly Pianucci has started both games in goal, owning a 7.45 GAA and .552 save percentage.

The Lions lead the all-time series, 10-4 with the last meeting coming on Oct. 21, 2009, a 3-1 Columbia victory. The first meeting came in 1996, which Lehigh won, 1-0 in overtime.

Towson enters the weekend 0-4, falling to Saint Joseph's (5-1), Temple (9-0), Saint Francis (Pa.) (4-0) and Longwood (5-1). The Tigers face Longwood on Friday. Towson's two goals this season have been scored by Heather Jenney (who also has an assist) and Devon Hake. The Tigers have tallied a pair of defensive saves while Megan Boyle and Emilee Woodall have split time in goal, each starting two games. Boyle owns a 5.32 GAA and .647 save percentage while Woodall has a 6.30 GAA and .560 save percentage.

The Mountain Hawks are 13-0 all-time against Towson, most recently beating the Tigers last season, 2-1 in overtime. Tofig scored both of Lehigh's goals, including the overtime game-winner 4:49 into the extra session. Junior Julia Ward made 11 saves between the pipes.

Following the weekend, Lehigh returns home on Saturday, Sept. 19 to host American in its Patriot League opener. Gametime is set for 11 a.m.
