
Lehigh opens spring season with seventh place showing at Lonnie Barton Invitational

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Lehigh women's golf team opened its spring season with a seventh place finish at the Lonnie Barton Invitational, which wrapped-up Tuesday at the LPGA International Jones Course. The Mountain Hawks followed up a 324 on Monday with a 326 on Tuesday to finish at 650, four strokes behind sixth place Sacred Heart and ten ahead of Wagner and Bucknell, who tied for eighth.
Junior Nicole Feierberg led the way for Lehigh's quintet of scoring players, tying for 23rd place at 161 (80-81). Lehigh's low player on the weekend was sophomore Elizabeth McGarrigle, who shot 160 (79-81) and tied for 19th place.
Senior captain Kelly Moylan shot the low round for Lehigh in the tournament with a final round 78 to move into a tie for 28th place at 163 (85-78). Freshman Casey Farmer also was part of a tie for 28th with rounds of 79 and 84.
Also scoring for the Mountain Hawks were senior Alyssa Scheyd, who tied for 33rd at 165 (82-83) and freshman Megan Moylan, who shot 169 (83-86) and finished in 46th place.
McGarrigle tied for first among individuals while senior Kelly Moylan finished third among individuals, tying for 36th at 166 (86-80). Junior Tess Jennings finished at 176 (85-91) and tied for 61st place.
Tournament host LIU-Brooklyn shot 305 Tuesday to capture the team title. The Blackbirds finished at 624 (319-305) to defeat second place Siena by 11 strokes. First round leader St. John's followed an opening round 302 with a 338 and fell to fifth place at 640.
Taylar Jaramillo of Saint Francis (Pa.) was the individual medalist at seven over par 151 (75-76). She beat LIU-Brooklyn's Brianna Maynard by one stroke.
The Mountain Hawks will return to the links at the Middleburg Bank Intercollegiate March 30-31 in Williamsburg, Va.
