
Moyar meets NCAA B standard to lead Lehigh men on day three in Lewisburg

LEWISBURG, Pa. – Sophomore Jacob Moyar broke his own school record in the 400 yard individual medley twice and met the NCAA B standard in the event to lead the Lehigh men's swimming and diving team on day three of the Patriot League Championships, Friday at Bucknell's Kinney Natatorium. Moyar posted a time of 3:53.66 in the finals to finish fourth as the fastest of four Mountain Hawks to score points in the event.

The Mountain Hawks finished day three in fifth place with 219 points.

Behind Moyar, senior Jake Greene also reached the A final, taking eighth place in a time of 3:59.83. Sophomore Justin Kostelnik and senior Danny Bennett also scored in the B final, with Kostelnik placing 11th overall at 4:00.80 and Bennett coming in 13th overall with a time of 4:02.54.

Senior Sean Brant and junior Jake Hassel also reached B finals for the Mountain Hawks on Friday. Brant finished 14th in the 100 back with a time of 51.34 while Hassell placed 15th in the 100 fly, clocking in at 50.30.

Lehigh swimmers failed to score in the 200 free and the 100 yard breaststroke. Sophomore Justin White led Lehigh in the 200 free, finishing 19th with a preliminary time of 1:42.14. Sophomore Kevin Huntley was the Mountain Hawks' top performer in the 100 breast, posting a time of 58.01 to finish 20th.

In the final event of the day, Brant, Huntley, Hassel and White registered a time of 3:23.20 in the 400 medley relay and moved up from seventh to sixth when Army's team was disqualified.

In the one meter diving event, senior Dan Bateman just missed the A final and settled for 12th place overall after finishing fourth in the B final with 222 points. Bateman added five team points for the Mountain Hawks.

Navy continues to lead the men's team race with 645 points. Boston University is in second place with 402.

The Patriot League Championships conclude Saturday from Bucknell's Kinney Natatorium. Preliminaries begin at 10:30 a.m. with finals once again set for 6 p.m.Â
