BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Following a hard-fought 58-52 loss at Holy Cross on Saturday, the Lehigh men's basketball team looks to get back on track when the Mountain Hawks travel to Navy on Wednesday. Opening tipoff is set for 7 p.m. Despite the loss, Lehigh has still won seven of its last nine games and stands in sole possession of third place in the Patriot League standings.

Entering the final four regular season contests, every game is crucial. With an 8-6 league mark, the Mountain Hawks are one game ahead of Boston University and American who are tied for fourth, and two games ahead of Holy Cross, Navy, Lafayette and Loyola who are tied for sixth. The Midshipmen are coming off a big comeback victory to knock off first-place Colgate on Saturday.

The Mountain Hawks struggled offensively at Holy Cross, finishing the game shooting a season-low 29.6 percent from the field (16-of-54). Lehigh scored just 18 first-half points, but responded to score 34 in the second half. The Mountain Hawks actually shot worse in the second half than first half, but willed their way back into the game. Lehigh held a 25-19 rebounding edge in the second half, including 11 offensive rebounds (to just five for the Crusaders). The Mountain Hawks also knocked down 13-of-17 second-half free throws, led by sophomore Tim Kempton who was 10-for-13 from the charity stripe. Kempton exploded for 18 second-half points and eight rebounds to finish the game with 22 points and 11 boards for his 11th double-double of the season (and 17th of his career).

For the game, Lehigh only shot 3-of-16 from three-point range, but the three-pointers were big as freshman Kahron Ross knocked down a trey to round out a 7-0 run which turned a 16-point deficit into a nine-point differential. Sophomore Austin Price also hit a big three with 4:15 remaining to pull Lehigh within six. The Mountain Hawks got as close as four with 2:25 still remaining, but couldn't pull any closer. Ross finished the game with 12 points and six rebounds (to tie a career high) while Price tallied 10 points (eight in the second half).

The Midshipmen are enjoying an impressive season. Predicted 10th in the Patriot League preseason poll, Navy is coming off an improbable comeback victory at Colgate, a team that was tied for first in the league standings. The Mids trailed by as many as 15 midway through the second half and ended the game on an 11-0 run to win, 70-69. Worth Smith, who didn't play in the first meeting against Lehigh, leads the team in scoring (15.3 ppg) and rebounding (3.9 rpg). Brandon Venturini is second in scoring (12.6), but is currently out indefinitely with an injury. Tilman Dunbar averages nine points and has dished a team-leading 86 assists while Edward Alade comes in at 6.0 points per game. Navy is eighth in the Patriot League in scoring offense (61.2 ppg), but has the third-ranked defense (65.0).

The Midshipmen lead the all-time series, 43-27, but Lehigh has won 10 straight spanning the last four seasons. Navy's last win came in Feb. 10, 2010 by an 85-78 final. The Mountain Hawks won a pair of tight games last season, 68-66 in overtime then 72-65 when they scored the final 11 points for the victory. The teams first met in 1910-11, a 31-24 Navy victory. Lehigh's first win was in 1925-26 by a 25-23 final. The Mountain Hawks beat the Midshipmen 61-47 earlier this season.

After Wednesday's game, Lehigh returns home for its final two home games of the regular season. The Mountain Hawks begin on Sunday by hosting archrival Lafayette at 12 p.m. on CBS Sports Network. It will also be Senior Day as Corey Schaefer, Stefan Cvrkalj, Conroy Baltimore and Khalid McCaskill will be recognized prior to opening tipoff. Tickets are just $10 for the general public, $10 for Lehigh faculty/staff and $5 for Lehigh students. With a high walk-up expected on Sunday, fans are encouraged to purchase in advance.
