BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Winners of two of its last three games, the Lehigh field hockey team returns home this weekend to host Holy Cross on Saturday (11 a.m.) before welcoming Sacred Heart on Sunday (1 p.m.). The Mountain Hawks are coming off a trip to Washington D.C. where they dropped their league opener to American (4-0), but bounced back to defeat Georgetown (4-2) a day later.

The Eagles scored two goals in each half last Saturday while Lehigh struggled to get much going offensively. The Mountain Hawks generated two penalty corners as the first half expired, but couldn't put one past the American University goalkeeper.

After a 1-1 first half against Georgetown Sunday, Lehigh was able to get its offense going with three second-half goals. The Mountain Hawks spread the ball around with four different goal scorers. Senior Natalie Tacka tallied her first goal of the season, while junior Lindsay Schott scored goal number four off a penalty stroke. Sophomore Gabby Tofig also scored her third goal in the last three games to earn honorable mention recognition on the Patriot League Weekly Honor Roll.

This Saturday's opponent, Holy Cross, is off to a 3-7 start so far this season, coming off a 3-2 win over Siena on Wednesday. Last weekend, the Crusaders lost to Colgate in the Patriot League opener (3-0) before falling to Cornell on Sunday (2-1). Junior Katy Cronin has led the offense so far this season with three goals, while her counterpart Kaitlyn Murray has provided a balanced attack with a goal and two assists. Kat Matchett has started seven games in goal and owns a 1.80 goals against average and .738 save percentage.

Holy Cross leads the all-time series, 17-8, winning each of the last two seasons. Lehigh had previously won three in a row (from 2009 through 2011).

Sacred Heart is .500 with a 4-4 record, but the Pioneers are coming off two straight losses including an overtime defeat to Brown on Sunday. Before taking on Lehigh, they travel to central Pennsylvania to face Lock Haven on Saturday. Sacred Heart has enjoyed a strong offensive season so far with sophomores Lauren Harrison and Danielle Gallagher both recording three goals and one assist. Liz Bergman also has seven points (two goals, three assists). They all trail junior Christine Mace, who's led the team with 11 points (four goals and three assists). Marv Altepeter has played every minute in goal, posting a 2.16 GAA and .723 save percentage.

The Mountain Hawks are 1-6 all-time against Sacred Heart. Lehigh's lone win came to open the 2010 season, a 4-1 victory.

Following this weekend, Lehigh will host Patriot League foe Colgate on Saturday, Oct. 4 at 12 p.m.
