
Top ten finishes from Abrams, Kim propel Lehigh to fifth place finish at Rutgers

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Three players shot even par or better to help the Lehigh men's golf team to a final round 290 Saturday as the Rutgers Invitational concluded at the Rutgers University Golf Course. Two Mountain Hawks finished in the top ten individually while as a team Lehigh finished fifth out of 18 teams with a score of 870 (297-283-290).

Junior Harley Abrams led Lehigh finishing in a tie for sixth at two under par 211 (71-69-71). Abrams played the par five holes in five under par on the weekend and led the field with 39 pars in the 54 hole event. Senior Carlos Kim also finished in the top ten, tying for ninth at even par 213 (74-70-69). Kim led the Mountain Hawks with ten birdies.

After back-to-back rounds of 77 on Saturday, freshman Billy Johns finished strong with a final round 71 to move into a tie for 44th place at 225.

Senior Zach Allinson and junior Johnny Heydt both tied for 56th place at 228 with Allinson shooting 80 on Saturday and Heydt shooting 79.

Also in action at Rutgers was junior David Olexson, who tied for 86th place at 81-77-81-239.

Wofford used a final round 281 to win the team title at 859 (297-281-281), holding off the host Scarlet Knights by one stroke.

Fairfield's Steve Burak was the individual medalist at seven under par 206 (68-66-72), edging Jacob Stockl of Rutgers by one shot.

The Mountain Hawks will play in the Tuxedo Autumn Invitational, hosted by Columbia, next Friday and Saturday in Tuxedo Park, N.Y.Â
