Lehigh returns to links Friday at Rutgers Invitational

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Lehigh men's golf team will tee off at the Rutgers Invitational on Friday in Piscataway, N.J. The 18-team event will take place at the Rutgers University Golf Course, with two rounds being played on Friday and one on Saturday to conclude the 54-hole event.
 
The Mountain Hawks tied for sixth in their first fall tournament, the Colgate Invitational. Senior Carlos Kim tied for fifth place, while junior Harley Abrams finished strong to tie for ninth place.
 
Lehigh tied Binghamton for sixth and finished only three strokes behind third place finisher St. Bonaventure. Patriot League rival Army finished first, defeating the host Raiders by 12 strokes.
 
The teams participating in the Rutgers Invitational include Lehigh and the host Scarlet Knights, plus
Bethune-Cookman, CSU Bakersfield, Fairleigh Dickinson, Hofstra, Iona, Lafayette, La Salle, Manhattan, Monmouth, St. Peter's, Savannah State, Villanova, Wagner and Wofford.
 
Last year, Lehigh finished fifth out of 17 teams at the Rutgers Invitational, with Abrams leading the way with an 11th place finish. Current senior Zach Allinson also played well, carding a final round 73 and tying for 27th place.
 
This is just the second tournament of the fall season for Lehigh, The Mountain Hawks will play at the Tuxedo Autumn Invitational, hosted by Columbia next weekend and will face Lafayette in match play October 14 before hosting the Lehigh Invitational October 18-19 at Saucon Valley CC.
