JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Lehigh men's track and field senior Jimmy Miller and junior Adeolu Adesida turned out impressive performances at the third and final day of the NCAA East Regional Championship. Miller competed in the 5,000 meter run while Adesida represented the Mountain Hawks in the high jump at North Florida's Hodges Stadium.

"The reality is that the kids that made this trip showed me that we need to set the bar a little bit higher for our entire team," said head coach Matt Utesch. "I'm saying that coming off arguably the best year we've ever had. These kids are special, but so are the other kids on our team and I think in the future we'll see a lot more kids getting to this level and going even further."

Miller finished his race in 14:15.19 and placed 14th out of the 48 competitors, just missing a qualifying spot for NCAA Championships. The run caps off a successful senior season for Miller, who bounced back from being injured during cross country season to finish third at the 5,000 meter run at both the indoor and outdoor league championship meet. Miller also broke a 29-year old Lehigh record in the 3,000 meter run at the indoor IC4A Championship.

"Jimmy was within a few seconds of his personal record and ran a really smart race," said Utesch. "He's been a real cornerstone in our program, has changed the culture and been a fantastic leader. We'll be sad to see him go, but I know he'll be super successful in whatever he does next."

Adesida finished 28th out of the 48 competitors with a leap of 2.05m. The jump adds to Adesida's already successful season in which he was named Patriot League Champion in both the indoor and outdoor high jump. The junior also holds the indoor and outdoor school records in the event.

"Lou had a great season," said Utesch. "The way it ended is unfortunate because he made the bar that ended up getting to nationals a few times in his career. We get him back next year to win a bunch more and make it to the second round."
