Every Tuesday and Friday, Lehighsports.com will feature one of six newcomers that will join the volleyball team as the Class of 2018. We continue with Whitney Krantz.
BETHLEHEM, Pa. – An accomplished six-foot outside hitter from Centennial, Colo., Krantz helped lead her Arapahoe High School team to a second-place finish in the 2013 state championships. For her efforts in guiding her team to success, Krantz was named first team All-State in 2013 and first team All-Conference in both 2012 and 2013. She led her high school team to a regional championship as well as two tournament championships.
Just as strong in the classroom, Krantz is an officer in her school's chapter of the National Honor Society and has received high academic honors. She plans to major in civil engineering and architecture at Lehigh.
Bertucci on Krantz: "Whitney has played a good level of competition in Colorado and had a great high school career. She's going to give us a little bit more height in that outside hitting position. She's a six-rotation player who has good ball control and good awareness of the court. She's going to add a lot to our attacking. She has the ability to put the ball where the defense isn't and has good size at the net to put up a real nice block."
Why Krantz chose Lehigh: "Lehigh offered the best combination of athletics and academics and felt like home."
