Mountain Hawks finish 12th at Lafayette Invitational

Final Results

HELLERTOWN, Pa. – Sophomore Harley Abrams posted a top ten individual finish, but a final round 312 dropped the Lehigh men's golf team from seventh place to 12th in an 18-team field as the Lafayette Invitational wrapped-up Monday at Silver Creek Country Club. The Mountain Hawks finished 52 over par for the 36 hole event with scores of 308-312-620.
 
Abrams posted back-to-back rounds of three over par 74 to finish in a tie for eighth at six over par 148. He finished four shots behind individual medalist Chris Crawford of Drexel, who finished at 73-71-144 to edge Clayton Forren of Longwood by one stroke.
 
Lehigh's next lowest score Monday came from junior Zach Allinson, who carded a 77 to move into a tie for 32nd at 78-77-155. Also tying for 32nd place was junior Carlos Kim, who shot 75-80-155.
 
Also scoring for the Mountain Hawks were senior Alex DiClemente, who shot 82-81-163 to tie for 81st place and sophomore Johnny Heydt, who followed an opening round 81 with an 85 Monday to tie for 90th at 166.
 
Lehigh also had two players compete as individuals, with freshman Brendan Worthy tying for second place at 77-82-159 and sophomore David Olexson shooting 85-84-169 to tie for 95th place.
 
Longwood captured the team title, shooting 295 on Monday to finish at 27 over par 300-295-595. Central Connecticut State finished second, three shots off the pace. The Blue Devils fired the tournament-low round of 292 in Monday's final round. Hofstra finished in third place, six strokes behind the Lancers.
 
The Mountain Hawks will return to action at the Navy Spring Invitational, April 19-20 in Annapolis, Md.
