Every Tuesday and Friday for the next three weeks, Lehighsports.com will feature one of six newcomers that will join the volleyball team as the Class of 2018.
BETHLEHEM, Pa. – A libero and defensive specialist, Hannah Chalk comes to Lehigh from Mira Costa High School in Manhattan Beach, Calif.
Chalk has an impressive volleyball resume that includes a silver medal at the 2013 Junior National Championships Club Division. The libero also earned a silver medal at the 2013 SoCal Qualifier Club Division and the 2011 Junior National Championships Open Division.
The new Mountain Hawk is also strong in the classroom, earning her way onto Principal's Honor Roll (3.5 GPA or better) for all four years of her high school career. Chalk also earned her team's Scholar-Athlete Award and has been involved in multiple other clubs and organizations including the Love Joy Foundation and community helpline.
Bertucci on Chalk: "Hannah is a ball of fire and is just what we're looking for in our program. She's got a great personality. She's very good defensively and a great passer. She's a member of a strong club program out of Southern California and I see her being just what we're looking for in the back row."
Why Chalk chose Lehigh: "I was drawn to Lehigh because of its stellar academics and Division I volleyball program."
