
Mountain Hawks finish fifth at Patriot League Championships

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Freshman Jacob Moyar set his third school record in as many days to lead the Lehigh men's swimming and diving team on the final day of the Patriot League Championships, Saturday at Lejeune Hall. Moyar added a new school mark in the 200 yard butterfly to his records in the 500 free and 400 IM.

As a team, the Mountain Hawks finished in fifth place with 291.5 points. Freshman Kevin Huntley also set a school record Saturday giving the Lehigh men seven school records for the championship meet.

Moyar broke the 200 fly school record with a 1:49.02 in the preliminaries and then broke it again in the finals, clocking in at 1:48.74 to finish fifth in the event. Sophomore Jake Hassel reached the B final in the 200 fly and finished in 1:52.00 to take 12th place overall.

Huntley set his school record in the 200 yard breaststroke, coming in with a time of 2:02.50 to finish 12th overall.

Three Mountain Hawks scored in the 100 yard freestyle, with senior Chris Hoke reaching the A final and finishing seventh overall with a time of 45.32 seconds. Freshmen Justin White and Jamal Willis took 12th and 15th respectively with White coming in at 45.91 and Willis at 46.85.

Junior Sean Brant reached the B final in the 200 yard backstroke and finished 13th overall with a time of 1:51.98. Lehigh placed two in the top 16 in the 1650 yard freestyle with junior Danny Bennett taking 14th with a time of 16:09.52 and classmate Eric Sherwood coming in at 16:13.07 to finish 16th.

In the men's three meter diving event, junior Dan Bateman scored points, finishing 14th with 211.90 points.

In the final event of the meet, White, Hoke, Willis and Moyar finished fourth in the 400 yard free relay with time of 3:01.21.

Navy rolled to its 11th straight league title, scoring 945.5 points and beating second place Army by 305 points. Lehigh finished 185.5 points behind fourth place Bucknell and 113.5 ahead of sixth place American.
