Mountain Hawks seek second straight win Saturday at Holy Cross

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh seeks its first two-game winning streak of the season as the Mountain Hawks visit Holy Cross Saturday in their final true road game of 2014. The Mountain Hawks picked up their first Patriot League win with a 27-19 win at Georgetown last weekend; a game in which Lehigh built a 20-3 third quarter lead before holding off a Hoyas comeback attempt. Freshman wide receiver Troy Pelletier caught seven passes for a career-high 187 yards and a touchdown and was named Patriot League Rookie of the Week for his efforts. Sophomore linebacker Colton Caslow led a strong defensive effort with a career-high 12 tackles.

Holy Cross returns from its bye week to host Lehigh in the Crusaders' first home game since September 27. The Crusaders come in at 3-6 overall and 1-2 in the Patriot League, with four of their six losses by a field goal or less. In its last game before the bye week, Holy Cross snapped a five game losing streak with a 24-14 win at Lafayette.
 
The Crusaders are led by sophomore dual threat quarterback Peter Pujals, who has thrown for 1,927 yards and run for 596 and ranks 13th in the FCS in total offense. Jake Wieczorek has been Pujals' top target with 40 receptions for 610 yards. Gabe Guild leads the ground attack with 385 yards and four touchdowns. The Crusader defense is led by linebacker John Zakrzewski, who has 74 tackles, two sacks and two forced fumbles.
 
Freshman wide receiver Troy Pelletier enjoyed the best day of his Lehigh career last week at Georgetown, catching seven passes for 187 yards and a touchdown. He was on the receiving end of Lehigh's two longest pass plays of a the season, a 54-yard screen pass that led to a field goal, and a 69-yard reception that set up an insurance touchdown. For his efforts, Pelletier was named Patriot League Rookie of the Week. For the season the New Hampshire native has 29 receptions for a team-best 487 yards and five touchdowns. Pelletier saw his first action at wide receiver at UNH, catching three passes for 30 yards and two touchdowns in his home state.
 
Pelletier is just one of several first year Mountain Hawks who have made an impact this season. Running back Chris Leigh has rushed for 115 yards and a touchdown and has also seen time on special teams. Sasha Kelsey has done well since taking over as Lehigh's kickoff returner. Defensively, lineman Tyler Cavenas and cornerback Quentin Jones have seen significant snaps. Both players blocked kicks in the win at Georgetown. Linebacker Cal Coffman has seen time on special teams while offensive lineman Will Grelis has found a role as Lehigh's snapper for field goals and extra points.
 
Lehigh and Holy Cross get together for the 30th time with Lehigh holding a slight 16-12-1 lead in the series. Lehigh has won the last four games over Holy Cross following a three-game winning streak for the Crusaders from 2007-2009. Lehigh has won nine of the last ten meetings in Worcester dating back to 1994.
