Game Preview | Rivalry150
BRONX, N.Y. – On the eve of the 150th meeting of college football's most-played rivalry the Lehigh football team made itself acquainted with Yankee Stadium Friday as the Mountain Hawks made final preparations for Saturday's rivalry showdown with Lafayette.
Â
The team arrived at Yankee Stadium shortly after 10 a.m. and after getting acquainted with the clubhouse area and playing field, the Mountain Hawks took part in a 45-minute walk-through, the team's final on-field preparation before game day.
Â
For one Mountain Hawk, senior wide receiver Alex Buford, Saturday's rivalry game serves as a homecoming. Buford grew up in Manhattan and has family ties to the Bronx. He's been to at least ten Yankee games at the new stadium, which opened in 2009, most recently before the start of preseason camp this past summer.
Â
"It feels good to be here," Buford said. "It's always good to be in New York, especially with me growing up here. The walk-through experience was very cool but tomorrow it will be ratcheted up a little bit. We're looking forward to the game."
Â
"Walking out of the tunnel, it's a great view," added senior outside linebacker and captain Isaiah Campbell. "There are a lot more seats than we're used to seeing, but it's been amazing to see this stadium from the inside."(11/21/2014) Football at Yankee Stadium, 11/21/14 Â
Following the walk-through the Mountain Hawks took a tour of Monument Park and the New York Yankees museum before returning to their team hotel where they will have team meetings Friday night and Saturday morning.
Â
Lehigh enjoyed a fun and productive afternoon at the stadium, but from here on out, it's all business.
Â
"We're here to get a job done," Campbell said. "The message is just to stay focused. We just need to make sure we get our minds right tonight and come out ready to play tomorrow."
Â
Buford added, "It's important that we keep our minds on the fact that this is a business trip. As fun as it is, playing at a venue like this, we have a job to do here. We're all focused on getting that job done."
Â
Saturday's game kicks off just after 3:30 p.m. from Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, N.Y. The game is sold out. Fans unable to make it to the Bronx can watch the 150th meeting live on CBS Sports Network. The game will also be broadcast on ESPN Radio 1230 and 1320, ESPNLV.com and Lehighsports.com, with pregame audio coverage beginning at 2:30 p.m.
