
Mountain Hawks complete fall season by hosting Lehigh Invitational

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – In its final event of the fall season the Lehigh men's golf team finished tenth out of 12 teams in the Lehigh Invitational, which wrapped up Sunday on the Grace Course at Saucon Valley Country Club. All 12 teams battled cold, blustery conditions with the Mountain Hawks shooting 327 on Sunday to finish at 318-327-645.

Senior Carlos Kim was the low man among Lehigh's scoring players, tying for 23rd at 159 (80-79). Freshman Billy Johns led the Mountain Hawks on Saturday with a 74 but stumbled to an 87 on Sunday and tied for 30th place at 161. Junior Harley Abrams rebounded from a forgettable 89 on Saturday with a solid two over par 74 on Sunday. Abrams' 163 was good enough to tie for 40th place.

Lehigh's other two scoring players were sophomore Brendan Worthy and senior Jack Russell. Worthy tied for 46th at 165 (78-87), while Russell shot 175 (86-89) and finished in 65th place.

Three Mountain Hawks competed as individuals. Junior David Olexson led all Lehigh players, tying for 18th at 158 (81-77). Senior Zach Allinson finished at 166 (82-84) and tied for 49th, while junior Johnny Heydt shot 82-85-167 and finished in a tie for 53rd.

The Towson Tigers cruised to the team title following a 295 on Saturday with a 307 on Sunday to finish at 602, 19 shots better than second place Rutgers.

Towson also had the individual medalist, as John Hulede finished at four over par 148 (71-77), to defeat two players by one stroke. One of the second place finishers, Ben Alcorn of Fordham, carded a 69 on Sunday, the low round of the tournament.

The Lehigh Invitational concludes the Mountain Hawks' fall season. Lehigh will return to the links in March for their spring campaign. Â
