Mountain Hawks finish third at Colgate Invitational

HAMILTON, N.Y, - Lehigh wrapped up action in its first event of the fall season Sunday as the Mountain Hawks finished third out of 14 teams at the Colgate Invitational presented by Steelberry at the Seven Oaks Golf Course. Only one team broke 300 on the day, as Binghamton used a team total of 296 to finish at 16 over par 880 (303-281-296), eight shots better than second place Youngstown State and 11 better than the Mountain Hawks.
 
Lehigh shot 304 on Sunday to finish at 891 (290-297-304) to hold off Army by one stroke as the top finisher among the five Patriot League teams in the 14-team field.
 
Individually, the Mountain Hawks were led by sophomore Harley Abrams, who shot 74 on Sunday to finish at two over par 218 (70-74-74). Abrams tied for fourth place, three shots behind medalist Jared Mactas of Lafayette. His 74 was also the low round of the day for the Brown and White.
 
The Mountain Hawks' next highest finisher was senior Alex DiClemente, who tied for ninth at six over par 222. DiClemente closed with a 77 after rounds of 71 and 74 on Saturday.
 
Freshman Ethan Wall and junior Zach Allinson helped give Lehigh four individuals in the top 20. Wall tied for 14th in his college debut, at 225 (76-73-76), while Allinson was a shot back at 226 (73-76-77), tying for 17th. Senior Andrew Arnold rounded out the list of scoring players for Lehigh tying for 41st at 81-77-77-235.
 
Also competing this weekend for the Mountain Hawks was junior Carlos Kim, who tied for 48th at 239 (82-73-84).
 
The Mountain Hawks will compete at the Rutgers Invitational next Friday and Saturday in Piscataway, N.J.
