
Lehigh finishes fifth at Rutgers Invitational

Final Results
PISCATAWAY, N.Y. – The Lehigh men's golf team shot a final round 298 Saturday to finish fifth out of 17 teams at the Rutgers Invitational.  The Mountain Hawks finished the two-day, 54-hole event with a score of 878 on the Rutgers University Golf Course. Lehigh shot rounds of 288 and 292 Friday before finishing with a 298 Saturday.

Sophomore Harley Abrams was Lehigh's top individual finisher for the second straight tournament as he finished in 11th place at three over par 216 (70-72-74).

Lehigh's low round on Saturday went to junior Zach Allinson who shot 73 to finish in a tie for 27th place at 222 (76-73-73). One shot in front of Allinson was senior Alex DiClemente who carded a 76 on Saturday to tie for 20th at 221 (71-74-76).

Also competing as part of Lehigh's contingent of scoring players were junior Carlos Kim and freshman Ethan Wall. Kim tied for 44th at 225 (74-76-75), while Wall couldn't continue the momentum of back-to-back 73s on Friday as he shot 80 on Saturday to tie for 48th place at 226.

Sophomore Jonathan Heydt competed as an individual and carded the low round of the tournament with a second round 67 Friday afternoon. Heydt could not continue the momentum into Saturday's final round as he shot 79 to finish in a tie for 34th place at 223 (77-67-79).

USC Upstate shot a final round 282 to rally for its third straight Rutgers Invitational title. The Spartans finished at 855 (289-284-282), two shots better than runner-up Bethune-Cookman.

Jacob Stockl of Rutgers was the individual medalist, finishing at four under par 209 (70-68-71). Stockl posted a two stroke victory over Ryan Cornfield of USC Upstate and Travis Roe of Savannah State.

The Mountain Hawks will have the next two weekends off before returning to action at the Stars and Stripes Invitational, October 6-7 at West Point, N.Y.
