Glatt continues to shine in 4-2 loss at La Salle

PHILADELPHIA - Freshman Marissa Glatt scored a career-high two goals to extend her point streak to eight, but it wasn't enough as La Salle beat the Lehigh field hockey team 4-2 on Sunday. Glatt has scored a goal in seven of her last eight games and owns a team-leading eight goals and 17 points for the season. The Mountain Hawks held a 21-16 edge in shots, but struggled to beat Explorers' goalie Lisa Shaffer.

La Salle took an early 1-0 lead just 1:46 into the game, but the Mountain Hawks responded to outshoot the Explorers 12-9 in the first half. However, it was the Explorers who doubled their lead at 32:44 behind an unassisted goal from Maddy Tettelbach.

La Salle took a 3-0 lead less than five minutes into the second half, but Lehigh wouldn't go away. The Mountain Hawks continued to outshoot the Explorers, turning the pressure into two goals in a 5:10 span, both from Glatt. The first was unassisted from the top of the circle before the freshman took a feed from sophomore Zoey Pacheco then beat Shaffer.

The Explorers added insurance at 56:07 as Papa's second goal of the game made it 4-2 which proved to be the final.

Final shots were 21-16 in favor of Lehigh while the Mountain Hawks held a 12-6 edge in penalty corners. Freshman Julia Ward started in goal and stopped six-of-eight shots before being relieved by junior Sydney Maltinsky-Wilson, who made one second-half stop.

Lehigh plays its second straight road game on Friday when it heads to Sacred Heart to face the Pioneers. Gametime is set for 7 p.m. The Mountain Hawks return home next Sunday (Oct. 6) to host Rider.
