
Busy weekend begins with Patriot League opener at Bucknell

BETHLEHEM, Pa - The Lehigh field hockey team heads to Lewisburg, Pa on Saturday to face Bucknell, kicking off its Patriot League schedule for both sides. Gametime is set for 11 a.m. Lehigh enters league play winners of two of its last three games. The Mountain Hawks will then head home Sunday to host the #11 ranked Albany Great Danes at 1 p.m..

Both games this weekend will air live for free (and HD) on the Patriot League Digital Network.

Lehigh split a pair of games last weekend, beating Georgetown 4-0 before falling at Monmouth, 4-2. Friday's win over the Hoyas marked Lehigh's second straight shutout for the first time since the 2004 season. The four-goal margin of victory was the Mountain Hawks' largest since 2010.

On Sunday, Monmouth scored at both the 14:41 and 25:27 marks for a 2-0 halftime lead. The Hawks extended their lead to 4-0 with 10 minutes remaining in regulation. Lehigh fought back with two goals, but couldn't come all the way back. Freshman Marissa Glatt scored for a fourth straight game while sophomore Lindsey Schott tallied a goal for her second game in a row.

Bucknell heads into the weekend with a 3-3 overall record, coming off a 2-1 win over Penn on Sunday. Leigh Hillman leads the Bison in scoring with nine points behind four goals and one assist. Kiersten Sydnor has five points (two goals, one assist) while three others have three apiece. Goalkeeper Erica Perrine owns a 1.64 GAA and 66.7 save percentage.

The Bison, who have also defeated Missouri State and Ohio State, host #16 Delaware on Sunday.

Lehigh leads the all-time series, 21-16-1, but Bucknell has won four of the last five meetings. The Mountain Hawks won a 1-0 thriller two seasons ago, but haven't won at Bucknell since 2006 (a 3-1 victory).

Paula Heuser leads the team with 16 points (six goals, four assists) while Daphne Voormolen (13 points: five goals, three assists) and Liza Morgan (12 points: six goals) have double-figure points as well. Starting goalie Maxi Primus has played all but one half, owning a 0.70 GAA and 80.0 save percentage.
