LEWISBURG, Pa. - After falling behind 3-0 late in the first half, the Lehigh field hockey team pulled within two and had several chances to pull even closer, but it wasn't enough as Bucknell prevailed 4-1 on Saturday in the Patriot League opener for both sides. Freshman Marissa Glatt scored for a fifth straight game while freshman Julia Ward made seven saves in goal.

Bucknell's Kiersten Sydnor got the scoring started off a penalty corner at the 9:51 mark. The Bison had only two shots over the next 13 minutes, but the second found the back of the cage. Amie Pritchard made a steal near the end line and went towards cage, finding Rachel Misko who beat Ward low to make it 2-0 at 22:51.
Â
Lehigh amped up its pressure with a pair of shots from freshman Gabby Tofig, including one that was stopped by Bucknell goalie Erica Perrine. The Bison turned it into a transition opportunity, but Ward made a strong stick save coming out of the cage to keep it 2-0.

Leigh Hillman made a deflection past Ward at the 29:03 mark to make it 3-0 Bucknell, but Lehigh quickly answered. Glatt converted a turnover into a breakaway goal just over a minute later at 30:05 to pull the Mountain Hawks within 3-1.
