Charles and Clark named preseason All-League, Lehigh projected fourth

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh seniors Rachel Charles and Amanda Clark were named preseason All-Patriot League performers while the Mountain Hawk volleyball team was predicted to finish fourth in the league, as announced on Wednesday.
Charles led the team last year with 473 digs and 28 service aces, and was named Patriot League's Libero of the Year for the second-consecutive season. Mountain Hawk middle blocker Clark was named to the Academic All-Patriot League team, and received the team's Scholar-Athlete award for the third consecutive season.
The Mountain Hawks were picked fourth in the preseason poll as they look to make their third consecutive Patriot League Tournament appearance in 2013. The team finished 8-6 in league play last year.
Perennial power American topped the preseason poll with 119 points and eight first-place votes, followed closely by Army with 112 points. Colgate came in third (111) and Lehigh in fourth (78).
Navy (76), Loyola (52), Bucknell (50), Holy Cross (28) and Lafayette (22) rounded out the poll.
The Mountain Hawks will open their season at home when they host the Lehigh Classic on Friday August 30 and Saturday August 31.
