Lehigh wins inaugural Patriot League Women's Golf Championship

LEWISBURG, Pa. – The inaugural Patriot League Women's Golf Championship went down to the wire Sunday at the Bucknell Golf Course but Lehigh held off Bucknell by three strokes to capture the team title. Senior Chelsea Michalek posted a five stroke victory to be the first Patriot League individual medalist as Lehigh finished the tournament at 315-317-309-941.
The Mountain Hawks extended their team lead to as many as 11 strokes during Sunday's final round before Bucknell whittled the lead back down to three. Michalek stuck her approach shot on the 18th hole within four feet and two-putted for the individual and team championship-clinching par.
Bucknell bested Lehigh by a 307-309 margin on Sunday to come within three strokes of the Mountain Hawks. All six Lehigh championship entrants finished in the top 11 with four players earning All-Patriot League honors.
Joining Michalek and Schapira on the All-League team are junior Crystal Lee and sophomore Kelly Moylan who tied for sixth place at 242. Lee shot 83-82-77 over the three rounds, while Moylan shot 84-79-79.
Freshman Nicole Feierberg finished eighth overall at 79-84-80-243 and was named Patriot League Rookie of the Year as the top freshman finisher. Classmate Tess Jennings shot 88-87-82-257 and finished in 11th place.
Navy and Holy Cross finished in third and fourth place respectively, with final scores of 1054 and 1116.
