ECAC FCS All-Stars
BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh senior Lee Kurfis added another honor to an impressive senior campaign Monday as the All-American wide receiver was named to the ECAC FCS All-Star Team. Earlier this month, Kurfis earned All-America honors from both the Associated Press and the Sports Network.
Kurfis put together one of the finest single seasons for a wide receiver in school history, catching a school-record 99 passes for 1,351 yards and nine touchdowns. The 1,351 receiving yards were the second-highest single-season total in school annals.
A first-team All-Patriot League selection, Kurfis is the FCS leader in receiving yards per game, with 122.8. He ranks third nationally in receptions per game (9.9) and fourth nationally in overall receiving yards. He had seven 100-yard receiving games and four games with ten or more receptions.
Kurfis opened his season by becoming the first player in Patriot League history to post back-to-back 200 yard receiving games, catching seven passes for a Goodman Stadium record 222 yards and two touchdowns in Lehigh's season-opening win over Central Connecticut State and then catching ten balls for 211 yards and two more scores the following week in a win at Monmouth. He also tied a school single-game record with 14 receptions (for 130 yards and two touchdowns) in an October win at Columbia.
The West Chester, Pa. native finished his career with 153 receptions for 2,183 yards and 14 touchdowns. He was named a first team All-American by the Sports Network and a second team selection by the Associated Press.
Kurfis was one of eight Patriot League football student-athletes named to the ECAC All-Star Team, which is voted on by the head coaches of FCS programs with ECAC membership.
Towson running back Terrence West was named ECAC Offensive Player of the Year, while James Madison linebacker Stephon Robertson was the Defensive Player of the Year. Rookie of the Year honors went to Sacred Heart's R.J. Noel and Christophe Mulumba of Maine.
