BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh continues its four-match homestand with two duals against nationally-ranked in-state foes this weekend. The Mountain Hawks will host No. 15 Bloomsburg Friday inside Leeman-Turner Arena at Grace Hall before welcoming No. 1 and three-time defending National Champion Penn State to Stabler Arena on Sunday. Lehigh will be looking to bounce back from an 18-17 season-opening loss to Bucknell last Saturday, the Mountain Hawks' first loss to the Bison in ten career meetings.

The Mountain Hawks and Bison split ten bouts on the night but the vistors claimed the deciding point in the dual on the second criteria, the greatest number of six point victories, after Lehigh's Max Wessell had to default with an injury at heavyweight.

Two Mountain Hawks are ranked in the latest Amateur Wrestling News poll, with sophomore Mason Beckman and senior Joey Napoli both maintaining top ten status with wins by major decision against Bucknell. Beckman is ranked sixth at 133 while Napoli is ranked ninth at 157. Beckman and Napoli are also ranked by W.I.N. Magazine, while three others: junior Nathaniel Brown (184) and freshmen Mitch Minotti (149) and Doug Vollaro (285) join the Lehigh duo in the latest rankings from InterMat.

Bloomsburg opens its dual meet season Friday against Lehigh. The Huskies opened their season last weekend with a second place finish at the Brockport/Oklahoma Gold Invitational. Seniors Bryce Busler and Josh Veltre won individual titles to pace the Huskies. Both wrestlers are ranked in the top ten by Amateur Wrestling News with Busler coming in at No. 7 after moving down to 149 and Veltre coming in at 165. In total, Bloomsburg has four men ranked by AWN with Busler and Veltre joined by senior Richard Perry, who is ranked 11th at 197 and senior Nick Wilcox, who is No. 12 at 133. Bloomsburg was an impressive 17-3 in duals last season but finished 37th at the NCAA Championships. Jason Mester is in his first season as Bloomsburg's head coach.

Three-time defending national champion and top-ranked Penn State opens its dual season this weekend with a trip to Rider on Saturday before visiting Stabler Arena on Sunday. The Nittany Lions went 13-1 in duals last year before claiming the Big Ten title and eventually, the national title with five All-Americans, all of whom were national finalists, and two national champions. Penn State enters Sunday's dual with nationally ranked wrestlers at nine weight classes, including a pair of top ranked wrestlers in David Taylor (165) and Ed Ruth (184). Ruth is not expected to wrestle this weekend due to a suspension announced by Nittany Lion head coach Cael Sanderson. Twins Andrew and Dylan Alton are also out of the Penn State lineup this weekend, but fill-ins James English (149) and James Vollrath (157) are both ranked nationally.

Lehigh has wrestled Penn State more often than any other opponent in school history as Sunday's dual marks the 102nd meeting between the rivals. Penn State has won the last three duals. Friday's Lehigh-Bloomsburg dual is just the fourth in the series and the first in Bethlehem since 1992.

Action begins Friday night when Lehigh meets Bloomsburg at 7 p.m. inside Leeman-Turner Arena at Grace Hall. Sunday's 102nd meeting between Lehigh and Penn State begins at 3 p.m. from Stabler Arena. Tickets for both duals can be purchased at LehighTickets.com or by calling 610-7LU-GAME during normal business hours.
