BETHLEHEM, Pa. -- The Lehigh men's soccer team will host its first home Patriot League game of the season on Saturday when the Mountain Hawks welcome Bucknell at 7 p.m. The Mountain Hawks will be looking to rebound from last Saturday's 2-0 loss to American in the Patriot League Opener.
Â
Despite the seven shots on goal from sophomore Shane Mulcahy and junior Brian Suchoski on Saturday, the Mountain Hawks were unable to get past American's two goals. Freshman goalie Jacob Gottwald put out a strong effort in his first collegiate action by racking up six saves. The game brought Lehigh's record to 1-5-1.
Â
Senior Ben Wysocki and freshman Danny Gonzalez have each contributed a goal this season, with Wysocki also adding an assist. Junior Kevin Motylewski has saved sixteen shots, bringing his save percentage to 0.640.
Â
Coming off of a 2-0 loss to Patriot League contender Army, the Bucknell Bison will step onto the field Saturday with a 5-3 record. Prior to Saturday's loss, the Bison had recorded three straight shutouts and an 8-1 scoring ratio over their opponents in the previous five games.
Â
Sophomore Jesse Klug is currently leading the team in goals with five, followed closely by sophomore Chris Thorsheim's four goals. Sophomore goalkeeper Mike Lansing has tallied a save percentage of.846.
Â
The two programs have been evenly matched over the years, with the series tied at 24-24-8 for the first 56 all-time meetings. The teams have split the last four meetings with Bucknell claiming a 1-0 win in the last matchup.
Â
A live broadcast of Saturday night's game will be available for free via the Patriot League network. Live stats will also be available.
Â
Following the Bucknell game, the Mountain Hawks will prepare to take on archrival Lafayette on Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the Ulrich Sports Complex.
