Lehigh heads to Philadelphia Tuesday to face Villanova

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Lehigh men's soccer team will head to Philadelphia on Tuesday afternoon to face non-league foe Villanova in a 4 p.m. match. The match serves as just the second-ever meeting between the programs.
The Mountain Hawks are coming off a tough 1-0 loss at Boston University on Saturday. Despite holding an 8-6 corner kick advantage and tallying seven shots during the game, Lehigh was unable to put a ball in the back of the net. Freshman keeper Jacob Gottwald made four saves as the Terriers' decisive goal was scored in the 75th minute.
Senior Ben Wysocki and freshman Danny Gonzalez have both scored goals for the Mountain Hawks this season, while Wysocki has also tallied an assist. Senior James Meyerkord leads the team with 20 shots and junior Brian Suchoski has tallied a team-leading seven shots on goal.
The Wildcats will enter Tuesday's game on the heels of a 2-0 win against No. 22 St. John's on Saturday afternoon. Aaron Dennis scored Villanova's first goal in the 13th minute to give the Wildcats their first halftime lead in Big East play. Freshman John Jlopleh scored the other Wildcat goal that helped down the Red Storm.
Padriac McCullaugh leads Villanova with three goals, while Chris Hill has recorded three assists. Dylan Renna has notched 15 shots on goal. Wildcat keeper Andrew Weakly has accumulated a save percentage of .766 and allowed an average of 1.47 goals per game.
The only other match between Lehigh and Villanova took place in 1995 and ended in a 1-1 tie.
Following Tuesday's match, the Mountain Hawks will return home to host Patriot League newcomer Loyola on Saturday night at 7 p.m. in the Ulrich Sports Complex.
