LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Lehigh men's swimming and diving team dropped its second straight dual meet to a Patriot League opponent as the Mountain Hawks came up on the short end of a 175-118 score against Bucknell Saturday at Kinney Natatorium. The Mountain Hawks swam well, but only won three of the first 14 events on the 16 event program.

The loss drops the Mountain Hawks to 3-3 on the dual season with one more meet scheduled for next week. Lehigh also enjoyed its first look at Bucknell's Kinney Natatorium, which will host the Patriot League Championships next month.

Sophomore Danny Bennett delivered Lehigh's first win of the day as he took the 1000 yard freestyle with a time of 9:49.27. Sprints have been a strength for Lehigh all season and senior Demetri Karedis delivered the Mountain Hawks' other swimming victory as he won the 50 free in 20.83 seconds. Junior Chris Hoke finished second to give Lehigh a 1-2 finish in the event.

Lehigh's other win came in the three meter diving event as sophomore Dan Bateman capped a strong day by winning with a score of 264.83. He also took second in the one meter with 230.55 points.

Among Lehigh's other top performances, sophomore Martin Kendig led a 2-3-4 finish for the Mountain Hawks in the 100 back. Karedis and junior Matt Chrzanowski finished 2-3 in the 100 free while sophomore Sean Brant and freshman Matt Carducci took 2-3 in the 200 back.

The Bison clinched the meet early and swam unscored in the final two events.

The Mountain Hawks will host Princeton in a scrimmage Sunday at 1 p.m. at Jacobs Pool before wrapping up the regular season next weekend when half the team will return to Lewisburg for the Bucknell Invitational, while the other half will host Drexel at 1 p.m. Saturday.
