BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Junior Rachel Charles earned the Libero of the Year award for the second-consecutive season, while senior outside hitter Taylor Poole was named first team All-Patriot League on Tuesday afternoon. Along with earning Libero of the Year, Charles was also named a second team All-Patriot League performer by the league.
Charles finished second in the league after averaging 4.97 digs per set, as the Farmington Hills, Mich. native racked up 457 on the season. Charles also is tied for the team lead with junior Courtney McCutchan as each has tallied 28 aces through the regular season. Charles has been a consistent rock in the middle of the Lehigh line-up, making solid passes all year to set up the Mountain Hawk attack.
Also garnering honors was senior Taylor Poole as the outside hitter for Lehigh leads the team with 210 kills and a .258 hitting percentage. Poole's .258 average ranks her sixth among Patriot League performers, while her team-leading 0.89 blocks per set average is fifth in the league. She has also contributed in the serving game, ranking 10th in the Patriot League with a 0.24 aces per set average as the Keller, Texas native has registered 22 on the year.
Lehigh earned a spot in the Patriot League Tournament with a 3-1 win over Holy Cross on Friday night and will take on host and top-seeded Colgate in the semifinals at 3 p.m. on Saturday, November 17 in Hamilton, N.Y.
