Lehigh opens season with sixth place finish at Bucknell Invite

LEWISBURG, Pa. - The Lehigh men's golf team opened its fall season with a sixth place finish in the 13-team Bucknell Invitational that wrapped-up Saturday on the Bucknell Golf Course. The Mountain Hawks shot a final round 298 to finish the tournament with a score of 877 (282, 297, 298), 20 strokes behind Monmouth, which rallied to take the team title at 857 (295, 285, 281).
Others who competed for Lehigh included freshman Zach Allinson who tied for 23rd in his first collegiate event, shooting 220 (71, 75, 74); sophomore Alex DiClemente who shot 223 (73, 76, 74) to tie for 33rd; and senior Doug Marcincin, who tied for 61st at 235 (81, 78, 76).
Longwood's Austin Gray shot a final round 69 to earn medalist honors with a score of 208 (68, 71, 69).
Lafayette held the 36 hole lead but shot 295 in the final round to finish third at 869. Army rose from a tie for fifth to second place with a final-round 295 to finish at 866 (287, 287, 295). Bucknell finished fourth at 872, followed by Navy (875) and then the Mountain Hawks.
The Mountain Hawks will be back on the links at the Hartford Invitational, October 26 and 27 in Connecticut.
