Schapira, Mountain Hawks finish fourth at Bison Invitational

LEWISBURG, Pa. – Junior Ginette Schapira fired a final-round one over par 71 to finish with a 54-hole score of 222, good enough to tie for fourth place overall and lead Lehigh at the fall season-opening Bison Invitational, which wrapped-up with the final 36 holes Monday at the Bucknell Golf Course. Schapira posted the low round of the two-day tournament for the Mountain Hawks, who finished fourth in the 15 team field.
After shooting an opening round team score of 307 on Sunday, good for third place overall, Lehigh shot a 309 as a team in the second round, which began Sunday and was completed Monday morning. The Mountain Hawks saved their best for the final round, as the team carded a 302 to finish at 918 for the tournament.
Two freshmen also competed for Lehigh, with Kelly Moylan tying for 29th at 235 (77, 81, 77), and Melanie Dickens shot 250 (80, 85, 85) to finish in a tie for 50th.
Schapira finished eight shots behind medalist Kortnie Maxoutopouli of Rutgers who finished at 214 (70, 73, 71). Jade Okamoto of Radford finished second at 218 (72, 73, 73), while Ann Colligan of St. Francis (Pa.) finished third with a 220 (70, 79, 71).
Host Bucknell captured the team title, following up a first round 310 with back-to-back rounds of 298 to finish at 906. Rutgers finished one stroke behind, while Seton Hall took third place, one shot better than Lehigh.
