Three Mountain Hawks honored by LVAIAW

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Three Lehigh student-athletes were recognized on Tuesday afternoon at the annual Lehigh Valley Association of Intercollegiate Athletics for Women (LVAIAW) awards luncheon at Starters Riverport. Seniors Lauren Dykstra (lacrosse) and Erica Prosser (basketball), and sophomore Taylor Poole (volleyball) were all honored as the Outstanding Athlete within their respective sport, while Dykstra was also named the Outstanding Athlete at Lehigh.
Dykstra recently wrapped up a sensational career which saw her score a Patriot League record 257 career goals; that mark stands sixth in NCAA history. After posting 79, 75 then 62 points in her first three seasons, Dykstra went off her senior year for a career-high 86 points via 72 goals and 14 assists. The goal total currently leads the nation, four ahead of the next-best goal-scorer. The Mendham, N.J. native finished her career with four major Patriot League Awards in as many seasons - Rookie of the Year, Offensive Player of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year and Midfield Player of the Year.
Prosser capped off a sensational career by becoming the first player in Patriot League history to earn both Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year honors. She currently ranks third in program history with 1,676 career points and second in assists with 541. She also became just the second player in Patriot League history to score 1,500 points and dish out 500 assists. Prosser earned Player of the Year for the second time in her career and First Team All-League honors for the third consecutive year. Prosser was also named to the Academic All-Patriot League team for success on and off the court, as she sported a 3.63 GPA in the classroom.
A First Team All-Patriot League honoree, Poole proved to be one of the Mountain Hawks' most reliable attack threats, ranking second in the league with a .328 hitting percentage and ninth in kills, averaging 2.44 per set. She was also strong defensively, leading Lehigh with 75 total blocks, which also stood 10th in the Patriot League. Poole played her best when it mattered most, recording 143 kills in league play (team best) while hitting a team-best .348. She also added 14 service aces and 36 total blocks to lead Lehigh to a 13-13 overall record (7-7 in Patriot League play), the program's first .500 season since 2003.
