Lehigh downs SIU-Edwardsville to earn split in Florida

FORT MYERS, Fla. – Lehigh stopped its two match losing streak on Tuesday as the Mountain Hawks wrapped-up their spring break trip to Florida with a 5-2 win over Southern Illinois Edwardsville at Three Oaks Park. The Mountain Hawks swept the doubles matches and added four singles wins as they improve to 8-4 on the season.
 
In doubles action, Lehigh clinched the first point with 8-4 wins from the teams of Matt Savran and Cameron Silbert at No. 2 doubles and Mark Goldberg and Ryan Krueger at No. 3 doubles. The Mountain Hawks' nationally-ranked top doubles team of seniors Troy List and Collin Laffey won 8-6 over Paulo Gonzalez and Justin Spicer to complete the sweep.
 
List suffered a rare singles loss, falling 6-4, 6-4 to Gonzalez, but the Mountain Hawks won four of the remaining five flights. Savran, Goldberg and sophomore Andrew Krentz all posted straight set wins at third, fourth and sixth singles. Laffey provided the final point as he rallied from a set down to defeat Spicer 1-6, 6-1, 10-5
 
The Mountain Hawks will return to action on Saturday, March 19 when they host Niagara at the Lewis Tennis Center at 11 a.m.
