BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Junior Taylor Poole was named the Patriot League Volleyball Player of the Week, as announced by the league on Monday. Poole helped lead Lehigh to a 2-0 weekend that included wins over Navy and American. The Keller, Texas native averaged a stellar .538 attack percentage over the two matches and now has a .375 attack percentage in league matches this year which ranks her fourth in the league.
On Friday against Navy, Poole had a team-high nine kills while only committing one error on 16 attack attempts for a .500 attack percentage. The following day, Poole had six kills and no errors on 10 attempts for a .600 attack percentage as she helped Lehigh hand American its first league loss of the season.
Poole also helped Lehigh defensively limit Navy to a .074 attack percentage while holding American which leads the league in attack percentage to .169. It was a historic win for Lehigh as it was only its third all-time win in 27 matches against American and it also handed American its first-ever three-set loss in a regular season match since American joined the Patriot League in 2001.
With the pair of wins, Lehigh now sits tied in second place with a 5-2 league record.
The honor is Lehigh's second Patriot League Volleyball Player of the Week award this season as Angelika Kopacz won it for the week ending September 5th.
Poole and the rest of the Mountain Hawks take the court again this weekend when they travel to face Holy Cross Friday night at 7 p.m. and Army Saturday afternoon at 4 p.m.
