Lehigh set to take on St. Peter's

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – After earning two wins in three matches last weekend at the JMU Tournament, the Lehigh volleyball team returns home for the second time this season for a matchup against St. Peter's on Wednesday at 7 p.m. Lehigh owns a 5-6 record in 2010 and will be looking for its first home win of the season after falling to Villanova on September 7.
Taylor Poole BRH_7039.jpg" />Junior Angelika Kopacz leads the team with 126 kills in 11 matches and is tied for the team lead with 10 service aces. Junior Jessica Kudirka owns a team-best 221 assists, while freshman Rachel Charles paces the squad with 185 digs. Charles leads the Patriot League and ranks 80th in the nation with 4.62 digs per set. As a team, the Mountain Hawks lead the Patriot League and rank 20th nationally in digs per set, averaging 17.2.
St. Peter's enters the match with a 4-6 record, owning wins over Fairleigh Dickinson, Quinnipiac and a pair of victories over St. Francis (NY). Stephanie Phillips paces the team with 115 kills and Shannon Doheny leads the way with 202 assists. The Peahens were picked to finish 8th in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference preseason coaches' poll after posting an 8-22 record last season.
Tonight's match will be the 13th all-time meeting between St. Peter's and Lehigh; the Mountain Hawks hold an 8-4 edge overall. The teams last met in 2008 when the Peahens prevailed by a 3-0 count on their home floor. St. Peter's has won four of the last five meetings overall, with the Mountain Hawks' last win coming in 1997.
