Lehigh opens season with fourth place finish in Lewisburg

LEWISBURG, Pa. – Lehigh wrapped-up its first event of the fall season with a fourth place finish at the Bucknell Invitational, which concluded Sunday afternoon. The Mountain Hawks shot a final round 310 to finish with a 54-hole score of 931 (314, 307, 310). Sophomore Chelsea Michalek and senior Emily Endres led the way for the Mountain Hawks, tying for seventh place at 228. Michalek shot a final round 79 while Endres shot 77. Both players shared Lehigh's low round for the weekend with a 74 on Saturday's opening round.

Other Mountain Hawks who competed were sophomore Ginette Schapira, who shot 76 on Sunday to tie for 19th at 234 (82, 76, 76), sophomore Natalie Lansing who shot a 241 (84, 79, 78) to tie for 31st and junior Taylor Orr, who tied for 59th with a 255 (87, 89, 79).
Tournament host Bucknell captured the team title, shooting a 903 (303, 304, 296), 19 shots better than second place William & Mary. Rutgers placed third with a 929, two shots better than the Mountain Hawks. Lehigh finished seven shots better than fifth-place Bucknell.
Individually, Bucknell's Katie Jurenovich defeated Rutgers' Jeanne Waters on the fourth playoff hole to capture medalist honors.
The Mountain Hawks will continue their fall schedule at the Yale Invitational September 25-26 in New Haven, Conn.
